MCA - Youth Guide Gallery Tours
The Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) is making art relevant to young people by hosting a special event for the Biennale. For one day only, members of the generationext Youth Committee will act as gallery guides, sharing their unique perspectives on the exhibition.

Aspect Siblings Camp - October
Do you care for a brother or sister with autism or Aspergers? Are you aged 10-16 years old? If so, Austism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) would like to invite you to apply for their annual Siblings Camps (one for 10-12 year olds and one for 13-16 year olds). The camps will be full of fun activities (art, craft, water sports, etc) as well as opportunities to meet other young carers.

(Young carers as young as 8 are also encouraged to apply because a special day program may be organised for 8-13 year olds who don't get selected for camp)

When: 5-7 October 2010

Relaxation Workshop for Carers - Bondi and Kogarah
Are you a friend, relative or carer of someone with a mental illness? Do you live in the in the South Eastern Sydney Illawarra area? Carers NSW would like to invite you to a FREE two-hour Relaxation Workshop. The workshop will enable carers to meet others in similar situations whilst learning about various self-care and coping techniques such as meditation and relaxation.

i-Care Young Carer Camp - One Mile Beach
Attention all young carers aged 13-17 years old who live in the Hunter or New England regions. There is a camp being held JUST FOR YOU at One Mile Beach Holiday Park this September where you will have heaps of fun including ten pin bowling and sandboarding down Stockton Bight sand dunes!

When: Friday 10 September - Sunday 12 September, 2010
Where: One Mile Beach Holiday Park, 426 Gan Gan Rd, Anna Bay
Cost: Free - includes accomodation, all meals and activities.

Youth Reach - Soccer, Touch Football, Boxing
Youth Reach is a fantastic program that supports teens aged 11-19 years old from the Northern Beaches who are at risk of not finishing their education. As well as offering educational supports such as tutoring, each school term Youth Reach invites eligible young people the chance to take part in weekly after-school soccer (Curl Curl), touch football (Manly Vale) or boxing (Brookvale) programs. Know The Deal Video Competition
If you are in year 7-10 in high school then you might be starting to at least think about what your future career might be. People have very different experiences of work and the way you can best make work a positive experience for you is by being aware of your rights and what YOU want out of it. Carers even have specific rights - do you know what they are? To help you explore, the Know The Deal Video Competition invites you to learn about workplace rights and responsibilities while being creative and having some fun by making your own video advertisement. Also you could win up to $500 for yourself AND $1000 for your school!!

Entries are open to NSW high school students in years 7-10 and must be submitted by 6 August 2010. For more information go to the website. Good luck!!

 
Shift This 2010
The NSW Youth Action and Policy Association (YAPA) are inviting young people aged 12-18 years old who live in NSW to take part in Shift This 2010! If you are a young person who is motivated to  learn, have fun and get involved then take part in this festival of change where you can learn how to create graffiti art, make your own zine, publish your writing, as well as learn how to take action on issues such as getting your licence or addressing homelessness. This is a great place to meet other young people from across NSW while sampling music, art, performances and ideas.

When: 29 September - 1 October 2010
Where: The Vibe Hotel, Sydney CBD
Cost: $110 (GST free) - financial support for transport from regional and rural areas may be available on a first in first serve basis.

Free Fitness Class - Canley Vale
Motivate You Fitness and Personal Training is offering free weekly exercise classes to adult carers (young and older). Because carers often look after their own health last,  there will be a focus on self-care and also building up strong legs and backs for those who have to engage in heavy lifting.

Be A Cover Star!
Have you ever imagined your unique artwork gracing the cover of a national magazine? Unleash Magazine is a great youth magazine produced by the Youth Action and Policy Association (YAPA). The amazing cover art is selected from the work sent in by creative young people under 20 years old so they want to hear from you!

Whether you use paint, textas, a camera, aerosol cans or a computer, send in your work as a JPEG image and, if you get published, you will receive a $50 voucher and a full credit in the magazine!

Art Group - Eastwood
Are you a young carer in year 7-10? Are you the creative type? Then you are invited to join a creative art group for 5 weeks of fun, food and friends! Every week through Term 2 get your hands dirty in clay, paint and photography while you chit chat with friends over afternoon snacks.

Inner-West Youth Theatre Projects - FREE
The Inner-West Youth Theatre Projects is an initiative that invests in the creative potential of young people across the inner-west of Sydney. If you are a young person interested in theatre, performance, music or fashion, and live in the Ashfield, Strathfield, Leichhardt or the City of Canada Bay Council areas, then this is your chance to get involved, develop some skills and hang out with other cereative young people.

Qantas Spirit of Youth Awards 2010 - Step Up
