If you would like to have a really good talk with someone about the ups and downs of being a young carer then our counselling program might be for you.
What is counselling?
Seeing a counsellor is like talking to a good friend. It is a chance for you to share your good and difficult feelings and work out some good ideas for how to deal with challenging situations. You can see a counsellor who is close to where you live. What you say to the counsellor will remain private unless you share something that shows that your own safety is at risk.
The National Carer Counselling Program (NCCP) can offer young carers up to 4 – 6 sessions with a counsellor in their local area to talk about how the caring role is affecting them, their feelings and building coping skills. The counselling may either be face-to-face or by telephone. The counsellors are trained in carer issues. The counselling is organised by Carers NSW and fees are based on need, not ability to pay. Phone to discuss your particular circumstances (in accordance with the HACC fees policy).
