Talk-Link is telephone group counselling for young people who help care for someone in their family.

What is Talk-Link?

Talk-Link gives you the chance to talk to other young carers who are in a similar situation to yourself as well as getting the chance to make positive changes in your life. The young carers link up for the session from telephones in their own homes. Counsellors who are trained and experienced in working with young people facilitate the Talk-Links. The counselling is for one hour a week for 6-8 weeks. The group has two leaders and six young people. The Talk-Link sessions are an opportunity to chat about things that are important to you and the other young carers in the group.

What are the benefits of a Talk-Link program?

The Talk-Link program gives you the chance to: make new friends share feelings share, learn and build on existing coping skills talk with others who understand feel less alone

How much does it cost?

Talk-Link is funded by Carers NSW, which means that you will not have to pay anything, unless you want to make a donation.

What do I need to participate in Talk-Link?

All you need is the use of a land line telephone (not a mobile) and a private space for an hour each session.

When are the next Talk-link programs on?

We have been running talk-link since Thursday 12th February 2008.  Currently we are looking for interested talk-link partcipants in the following age groups:  8-12 // 13-17 // 18-25. We are looking to run another series of talk-link programs in January for these groups so if you are interested in taking part then just give us a call. Does Talk-link run for Adult Carers also?
